چکیده مقاله:

Engine oils are widely used for lubrication purposes in automobile and related industries. Viscosity Index (VI) improver has found its largest commercial applications as additives to engine oils. Examples are power steering fluid, aircraft piston engine oils, modern internal-combustion engines, turbine engine oils (stationary and aircraft), and industrial gear oils. Viscosity Index improvers are added in the lube oils to reach the desired Viscosity Index (VI). The enhancement of VI of lube oils (Servoneum 100, Servopress 68, Servomesh SP 220, and Servocut 335) by the addition of viscosity index improvers (Methylmethacrylate (MMA), Polybutadiene rubber (PBR), and Polyisoprene-cis) has been studied. VI of blended oils, made from the lube oils (Servoneum 100, Servopress 68, Servomesh SP 220, and Servocut 335) by the addition of MMA, PBR, and Polyisoprene-cis, has shown the potential to reach the maximum value. It has been found that the occurrence of maximum VI depends on the lube oil used and the type and concentration of viscosity index improver.

Investigation of shear stability of commercial polymer of viscosity index improver for determination of engine oil optimal formulation

The lubricating oils in each mechanical device are affected by shear forces. Polymers in lubricating oils engine, in particular, undergo many changes because of the influence of the applied forces. Awareness of these changes can help us to design optimal formulations. In this work, shear stability of four commercial was studied. Calculation of various parameters about viscosity in the enhancing...

Feasibility of using experimental high viscosity silicone oils: a pilot study

Background Polydimethyl silicones (silicone oils) are used in complex retinal surgeries, including difficult or recurrent retinal detachments, severe eye trauma, and other indications for long term tamponade. Two major problems with currently available silicone oils are emulsification and recurrent retinal detachment. The primary endpoint of this study was to evaluate the toxicity and safety of...

An experimental investigation into the dimension-sensitive viscosity of polymer containing lubricant oils in microchannels

In many lubrication processes, lubricating oils containing polymer additives are subject to high shear rate through very small clearance channels. While the influence of shear rate on the performance of these lubricants has been well examined, very little is known about the effects of channel size. In this study a specially designed microchannel viscometer has been used to experimentally charac...

Influence of varying timing angle on performance of an SI engine: An experimental and numerical study

Engine performance depends on two main factors of engine speed and ignition time. Ignition timing can affect engine life, fuel economy and engine power. In this paper, to study engine performance of Peugeot 206 TU3A with comparison ratio of 10.5:1 and displacement of 1361CC in MATLAB software, a two-zone burned/unburned model with the fuel burning rate described by aWiebe function was used for ...
